our philosophy
Chicago Zephyrs Baseball believes summer ball is about learning to play the game.  We are focusing not only on the physical development but also addressing the mental aspect of the game.  We believe that winning is the by-product of maximum effort put in by a group of individuals.  Combining effort with the process to achieve a given result will allow a player to execute at any level.

Many players focus on the possible outcomes.  This is difficult in baseball since we tend to fail more than we succeed.  Outcomes take the focus away from the process of executing.  If we can get players more to focus on the process versus the outcome then failure will be easy to deal with.

Zephyrs Baseball will allow each player to develop a positive mental approach and improve on their physical skills.  We offer a competitive enviroment where players can learn to deal with pressure situations and how to execute during those times.  We believe each player has the potential to be much greater than they are now or currently showing.  We will help  motivate players to reach that potential.  Players will learn from our coaching staff and from each other.  Bottom line the team with the best talent usually wins.  We believe the players we select for the summer are the best.

One of our mentors broke down his baseball philosophy, which we have embraced, as follows:

"First, you have to play smart, in baseball and business. If you learn to do things right all the time, it doesn't matter who you are playing or negotiating with. Secondly, stay loose. When we work, we work hard. But we have fun, too. A little clowning always helps.''
