Z's 2010 Season Review
The
2010 summer season is coming to an end soon. It has been a tough
one for the Z's. We have played both great baseball and awful
baseball. This has been one of the youngest group of players
overall, but still ranks as one of the most talented group.
Winning and losing are acquired tastes. Its a way of
living. I hope some of the younger players have learned that its
not necessarily about the results but about the process!! If we
focus on this in the post season, we should be very successful.
The Coaching staff has seen great improvements in many of our
younger players and we hope they keep learning, striving for
excellence, and enjoying the game. We wish to thank all the
players, and more importantly all the parents who have been so
supportive throughout this hot, wet, & muggy summer!!!

competitive atmosphere. All players deposits are due now and

Z's to Compete In The New Great Plains Baseball League and The Chicago Suburban Baseball League for 2010 Season
The
2010 summer collegiate season brings a new collegiate league to the
Chicagoland area. The Great Plains Baseball League will kick off
its inaugural season on May 28th with the Rockford Foresters hosting
the Chicago Zephyrs. The league will be comprised of 8 teams that
will be adhering to the NCAA guidelines for collegiate summer leagues.
The CSBL will also be offering a very competitive atmosphere with a mix
of current college players and former professional and collegiate
players.

Z's 2010 Roster In Process of Being Finalized
The
2010 summer collegiate season is now only 6 months away. There
looks to be a returning core group of upper class men along with new
faces to this years team. The Winter break will bring many of our
players home for approximately 3-5 weeks. During this time we
will have workouts 3 times a week at our training home.
Z's Kyle Kobernus Signs pro contract and records 1st pro win
The
Newark Bears of the Atlantic League came out to see the Z's play on
Tuesday June 23rd versus the the Westmont Redsox. Mike Torrez the
pitching coach for the bears, a veteran of 18 Major League Baseball
seasons saw enough of Kobernus to make the call to the manager Tim
Raines and the front office. Things moved rapidly from there and
Kyle found himself on a flight to Newark that following Sunday.
On Monday June 29th Kobernus made his first start for the
Bears throwing 5 innings, striking out 3, and giving up 3 earned runs
on his way to an 11-10 win.
