Z's 2010 Season Review
The 2010 summer season is coming to an end soon.  It has been a tough one for the Z's.  We have played both great baseball and awful baseball.  This has been one of the youngest group of players overall, but still ranks as one of the most talented group.  Winning and losing are acquired tastes.  Its a way of living.  I hope some of the younger players have learned that its not necessarily about the results but about the process!!  If we focus on this in the post season, we should be very successful.  The Coaching staff has seen great improvements in many of our younger players and we hope they keep learning, striving for excellence, and enjoying the game.   We wish to thank all the players, and more importantly all the parents who have been so supportive throughout this hot, wet, & muggy summer!!!

Z's Kyle Kobernus Signs pro contract and records 1st pro win

The Newark Bears of the Atlantic League came out to see the Z's play on Tuesday June 23rd versus the the Westmont Redsox.  Mike Torrez the pitching coach for the bears, a veteran of 18 Major League Baseball seasons saw enough of Kobernus to make the call to the manager Tim Raines and the front office.  Things moved rapidly from there and Kyle found himself on a flight to Newark that following Sunday.  On Monday June 29th Kobernus made his first start for the Bears throwing 5 innings, striking out 3, and giving up 3 earned runs on his way to an 11-10 win.
